There are many ways to quit smoking, from pills to programs to patches, but mostly you just need a will and the support of your family and friends.

Once you have quit, it takes a year with most companies for them to start seeing you as healthy. After a year, many companies will allow you to have a standard rate with their company.

After you have been done with smoking for three years, though, you can move up the ladder to a preferred position and get some very good rates.

The best rates you can get as a former smoker are after you have been done with smoking for a period of five years. Since cheap life insurance for smoker applicants is rare, this is the way to go.
